Pictage PartnerCon Video Premieres

Pictage is perhaps the largest back-end post production service for professional photographers in the U.S. Chances are if you're a bride whose recently ordered photos from your photographer, you used Pictage to order prints, albums, and more. Every year at their PartnerConference, they gather some of the greatest wedding and portrait photographers in the country to train, network, and fellowship with other photographers. We had the honor of producing their promo video for the 2007 "tour." And the line up of photographers appearing in this video reads like a who's who list, having shot the weddings of such high profile clients as Tom and Katie, Brad and Jen, Eva and Tony, the Kennedy's, and more. As I mentioned when I posted the first video we released for them, what I found interesting was that despite the celebrity clientele many of these artists have had the honor to shoot, it doesn't appear to have gone to their heads. They are fun, down-to-earth, regular folk who like to have a good time and are totally relatable. If you're a professional photographer whose followed the careers of some of these pros, you might be surprised at how accessible and approachable and helpful they are in helping other photographers grow. The L.A. PartnerConference is Sept 12 -13.

Funny Video Starring World's Top Wedding Photographers

I don't know what it is, but it seems like we just have a knack for getting to make hilarious videos starring the nation's top wedding photographers. First, there was the Joe Photo skit we did for WPPI this past March. Now, we had the honor of producing the video for the annual Pictage PartnerCon Tour. Pictage is one of, if not the top post-production service for wedding and portrait photographers. Many of you brides out there purchase your wedding photos via Pictage. Well, every year they gather the créme de la créme of the wedding photography world to teach and fellowship with other photographers. Such celebrated names as Denis Reggie, Mike Colon, David Jay, Bob Davis, Sara France, Robert Evans, and many, many more give of their time and talent to help promote their industry. Even my good buddies Dane Sanders and Jules Bianchi will be teaching this Septemer in L.A. And what's amazing is that they do it for free. It's all part of their way to give back to the industry.

Well, this past May was the Chicago leg of the tour and we made this little video to get people pumped up for Los Angeles. You see, something happened in Chicago that nobody wants to talk specifically about. Something that the top brass at Pictage apparently doesn't want to happen again (or do they?), but all the attendees DO want it to happen. Or, maybe nothing really happened. Who knows? NYC Fashion Photo and Video Shoot

At the end of April, you may recall we posted a same day edit from the wedding we shot in New York. The next day, their uber-cool photographer (the one and only Gene Higa) took them around trendy and popular spots in the Big Apple. Gene was looking to expand his repertoire with some fashion shots. Tony and I tagged along to film behind the scenes. Actually, I was filming behind the scenes and Tony was primarily filming the couple so as to make a kick-butt bridal fashion video. Stay tuned to this blog to be updated when it premieres. In the meantime, here are some of the photos by Gene. Behind the scenes photos by Ann Hamilton.

Jules Bianchi Promo Video

We get to work with such a talented array of artists in our industry. One of the most creative and stylish is Jules Bianchi. She's a Los Angeles based wedding photographer we've had the pleasure to work with a few times. She's not only a great photographer, she's loads of fun on the wedding day. So much about whom you hire for your photography or video is based on how much you like the person. Cinematic Studios created this movie trailer style promo video for Jules to show how much fun it is working with her. We even created trailer website where you can see different sizes and formats (including an iPod version).

Ron in Chicago

Today I'm in Chicago, IL filming the Pictage PartnerConference. Many of you may already be familiar with this photography powerhouse. In just seven years, they have become the industry leader of online image hosting, printing and sales solutions, and services to professional photographers. They simplify and streamline the process for photographers to upload, color correct, create albums, and print photos for their respective clients. This is one of two conferences they hold each year (the other is in L.A.) to educate professional wedding and event photographers. Cinematic Studios will be producing a very cool, kick-butt promo video of the conference.

Speaking at the conference will be such photography luminaries as Denis Reggie, Mike Colon, David Jay, Me Ra Koh, Sara France, and more. It's an honor to be the official videographer of the event. I'll be sure to post the video once it's done.

Funny Video Skit Starring Joe Photo

While we were in Vegas filming the WPPI convention, we also put together this funny little skit with a well known Organge County photographer Joe Photo. The back story is that Joe and Michele Celentano hosted the WPPI Awards night banquet the last two years. But this year they didn't (or couldn't. Not sure which. :-). I read on Joe's blog that he wasn't hosting and I emailed him the idea of this skit. He loved it. We then pitched the idea to "the powers that be" at WPPI, and they loved it too. The video was a huge hit. It also stars the Bay Area's very own Brook Todd of Alisha and Brook photographers.

To really get the depth of the humor, it helps to know that Joe, Brook, and Michele are world renown photographers, commanding some of the highest fees for their craft. They all have been featured instructors at WPPI. It's very cool when artists of their caliber and standing in their professional community can laugh at themselves and have a little fun.

WPPI Highlights Video

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. We've been in Vegas filming the WPPI Convention. (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International). This was the biggest year ever with over 10,000 photographers from around the globe.

Cinematic Studios Joins Forces with Photographers

Next week we have the pleasure of traveling to Vegas to produce a promo video for WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International). This is perhaps the largest convention of its kind. Nearly 10,000 photographers from around the globe will converge on the Nevada desert to learn from the best in their field. And behind the scenes filming it all will be little ol' me. It is a great honor to be able to produce this video for WPPI. Some of the most successful visual artists in the wedding and event world will be on hand. Renown photographers like Denis Reggie, Mike Colon, Joe Buissink, Bambi Cantrell, and many, many more. In fact, our Bay Area's own Gene Higa and Alisha and Brook Todd will also be teaching at the convention as well. If you haven't already done so, check out the video we made for Gene to open his presentation. When we finish with the WPPI video we share it with you too.

Photographer's Power Lunch

Earlier this month you may recall that I had the opportunity to video tape a power lunch with some the most prominent and talented photographers in southern California. The lunch was organized by Dane Sanders, creator of the world renown "Simple Photo Minute" and Simple Photo TV. I have been workinig with Dane to produce some of his Simple Photo Minute episodes. This was the first. If you're interested in meeting some of the most talented wedding photographer around, watch this video.
