Pebble Beach Wedding (and a kiss)

Danny and Kimberly were high school sweethearts. She was the high school cheerleader, and he was a "bench warmer" on the school's basketball team. On their first date at Kim's house, her two little sisters (six and eight at the time) followed them all around, with one little sister annoyingly asking them over and over, "Are you going to kiss? Are you going to kiss?" Well, twelve years later (+ or -), Danny and Kim share their first kiss...again, this time as husband and wife, under the chuppah at her parent's beautiful Pebble Beach estate. This is the same day edit we shot, edited, and showed that night at the reception. At the end of the video you'll hear an excerpt from Kim's little sister re-counting the story from the rehearsal dinner the night before.

"24" The Wedding (A Same Day Edit)

Lovegel and Oliver are huge fans of the show "24." They came to us because they wanted something different for their wedding, and for their same day edit. They liked the superhero theme same day edit and opening sequence we did for our very own Hilarie (Cinematic Studios Director of Weddings and Personal Events). So, they knew we'd be up for the challenge of creating a same day edit, in the vain of popular Fox show. And a challenge it was. How do you turn what is usually a beautiful, romantic, teary-eyed occasion, into a fast-paced, thriller. The secret was in the music. All the songs used are from the 24 soundtrack. Once I found some "slower" tunes that were true to the show, I knew I had all the ingredients to make a fun, yet emotionally fulfilling video. Let me know what you think:

Wordless Same Day Edit

Do you have five minutes? Click the photo.

I named this post "Wordless" because we had a unique request from the client: no voice overs from the ceremony. Just the music (this was their first dance song). I cheated a little and added part of their ceremony before the music starts. This video was shot and edited the same day as the wedding, then shown at the reception. Enjoy!

A Romantic Same Day Edit

The Promise

Just moments before the doors open to reveal the bride and her dad, what thoughts must being going through her head? All the planning. All the dreaming. All the waitiing. Culminating in this one moment. What if you could see her thoughts on video?

We've now premiered three Same Day Edits on our blog. Last year we didn't have any. Now seems like people can't get enough of them. I wanted to share the very first wedding same day edit we produced earlier this year in May (pre-blog). What I like about this one is its emotion. What's interesting about this SDE is that the dramatic opening to this video wasn't part of the original plan.  I decided THAT DAY to add it (which, for an SDE, is just madness). But the day was turning out in a way where I really wanted to add more than I originally planned. So, when you see the flowing graphics and the Cinematic Studios credits, that's where I originally planned to start the video. Everything before that was material we decided to add "en route" as it were.

I had the opportunity to work this wedding with one of the hottest photographers around: the one, the only, Gene "Indiana Jones" Higa. I call him that because seems like every other wedding this guys shoots is in a foreign country. India, Philipines, Greece, Italy. Whenever I check out his blog, I'm surprised if I see photos from the U.S.

Gene's partner that day was the indelible Miss Ann Hamilton. She's an amazing photographer in her own right. The fact that Gene gets her to assist him is sort of like, well, sort of like getting Tiger Woods to caddy for Jack Nicklaus.  The analogy may not be perfect, but you get the idea. They're both two fantastic photogs.  Chi (the bride) basically had the dream team of visual artists.

Another Same Day Edit

Here's the latest same day edit we produced from our September 3 wedding in San Francisco. What was so cool about this wedding was that the bride and groom (Jonathan and Nikki) are members of the same international co-ed business fraternity as I, Delta Sigma Pi. How cool is that!

Enjoy!

A Super Same Day Edit

Hilarie and ShawnWhen you want to create a video that appeals to both the bride and the groom, what do you do when he loves all things Superman and she is a Clay Aiken and Beach Boys fan? Well, you make two videos!

This wedding day took us from the Le Meridien Hotel, to the Legion of Honor, to St. Patrick's Church (the oldest church in San Francisco from what I understand), to the majestic Old Federal Reserve building. Our means of transportation? A converted cable car on wheels. It was a miracle that we finished not one, but two totally different highlights of their wedding day that premiered about 3.5 hours after the ceremony. Talk about super heroic feats!

Crouching Groom, Hidden Bride

Wine Country Wedding with a Far East Flair

Elaine and RivaThe St. Francis Winery was the setting for this dramatic, heartfelt same day edit. Elaine and Riva made their vows amidst laughter and tears. Unfortunately, they were the only ones able to hear the words spoken. Without amplification from audience speakers, only our cameras were able to capture the moment. Three hours after the ceremony, the bride, groom and all of their guests were delighted to relive that magical moment and share in their expressions of love. Check it out and tell us what you think.
